CLIA Lab Director is responsible for the overall operation, administration, and compliance of a clinical laboratory with CLIA regulations
. Their duties include overseeing day-to-day operations, managing and training personnel, establishing and maintaining quality control systems, and ensuring accurate and timely test results. While they can delegate many responsibilities, the director remains ultimately accountable for the laboratory's quality and safety.
Skills Required
Physician (MD/DO) lab director
Education: Licensed to practice medicine.
Experience: Two years of directing or supervising high-complexity testing.
Board Certification: Board certification in pathology is required
OR
Master's degree: A master's degree in a chemical, biological, or laboratory science, plus one year of lab training/experience and two years of experience supervising non-waived testing.
Bachelor's degree: A bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, or laboratory science, plus two years of lab training/experience and two years of experience supervising non-waived testing.
